Resurgent Daniil Medvedev Secures Maiden Championship in Over Two Years

Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 titles have been achieved on hard surfaces

A comeback the Russian player won his maiden title for nearly 30 months with victory over Corentin Moutet in the tournament championship match.

The athlete, a former number one, has endured a challenging year, winning just one win at the big events and experiencing a setback at the American major.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his service game in especial - caused him dropping out of the world's top 10 and ultimately parting ways with long-time trainer his previous coach.

Presently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, he has consistently advanced in the last few weeks - culminating in a hard-fought competitive victory over opponent Moutet.

It is the player's first title since the Italian tournament and initial on a hard court since that period of 2023.

Victory also indicates Medvedev has won 21 championships at 21 distinct tournaments.

"It's the first time I'm at a event with my children together, so to win a title is particularly special," said ranked player Medvedev.

"This title is in dedication of my younger daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I won when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had lost his previous six championship matches, featuring in that event earlier this year.

His defensive play style and regular reactions on the tennis court had caused some to question if his capacity to compete at the elite level was concluded.

Yet the 29-year-old has made changes in the past month, making an effort to come to the net and perform positively, backed up by an improved serve.

He fought back from a deficit in the first set against the difficult opponent, taking four of the concluding five exchanges to take the lead.

Both players exchanged service breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, bidding for his first professional championship, seized the initiative to push for a final set.

He saved 4 early opportunities in a close third set before Medvedev secured a break to fifteen to secure the win.

Fittingly, Medvedev earned victory with a point at the net area, with Moutet failing to control a volley after a lengthy match.
