Local Law Enforcement
Approximately 50 vehicles have been covered with what appears to be human blood in the Germany's city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to authorities.
Cars, building surfaces and postboxes were marked, in some cases with swastikas, they stated in a statement.
Law enforcement report they were notified late on Wednesday evening, when a individual discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored liquid.
The liquid had been applied in the form of a banned symbol, they reported.
Police then discovered numerous other smeared vehicles and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.
Swastikas are banned in Germany under laws outlawing the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement report early analysis suggest the liquid was most likely human blood.
"There is still no indication as to its origin; investigators are currently not aware of any physical harm in association with the event," they stated.
City officials announced they were attempting "to unravel the mystery" and have appealed to the community for information.
A high-ranking official stated the incident made him without words and needed to be addressed rapidly.
"This incident strikes at the center of Hanau and revives the trauma of the extremist violent incident five years ago," he stated on social media, referring to the killing of nine victims by a shooter targeting individuals of immigrant origin in 2020.
